"Zero Bone Loss Concepts"
Presented by Tomas Linkevicius DDS, PhD

Tomas Linkevicius is a professor at the Institute of Odontology,Vilnius University in Lithuania and is the creator of "Zero bone loss concepts", a clear clinical pathway to develop and maintain crestal bone stability around dental implants. He received a dental degree from Kaunas Medical University in 2000. He completed his post graduate studies in prosthodontics at Vilnius University in 2004. In 2009 he finished his PhD doctoral dissertation and defended it at Riga Stradins University in Latvia. He is an author of many publications in international peer reviewed journals. He also lectures internationally and is an active member of the European Academy of Osseointegration(EAO). He maintains a prosthodontics and implant dentistry practice. This lecture will address:

  • The influence of vertical soft tissue thickness on crestalbone stability
  • Augmentation methods with soft tissue grafts
  • Sub-crestal implant placement
  • Why polished zirconia is the best option for the soft tissue
  • Understanding the relationship between titanium base height and crestalbone stability
  • Avoiding cement relatedperi-implantitis

"Refer or Treat: Oral Path Tips for Practice Managing Medically Complex Dental Patients"
Presented by Kitrina Cordell, DDS, MS & Sanjay Chand, MD

Dr. Kitrina Cordell is Chair of Diagnostic Sciences and an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Dentistry. Her DDS and MS in oral and maxillofacial pathology are from The Ohio State University. She is formerly faculty at the U of Michigan, and director of the Oral Pathology Biopsy Service. Active in the LSU Oral Pathology Biopsy Service, she also sees patients in the FDA. Published in peer-reviewed journals, she is a reviewer as well. She is a member of the North American Society of Head/Neck Pathology, a tripartite member of the ADA, a Fellow of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.

Dr. Sanjay Chand, MD has specialized in medicine with an emphasis on clinical therapeutics and infection control. A Clinical Associate Professor at the U of Detroit Mercy's School of Dentistry, he is Director of Infection Control and oversees best practices at the Dental School. He is Director of Dental, Dental Hygiene, Physician Assistant and Nurse Anesthesia courses at the University. Areas of expertise include infection control, pain management, opioids and chronic disease management in the dental patient.

Dr. Darnell Kaigler, Jr., is the Major M. Ash Collegiate Professor of Periodontics at the U of Michigan in the Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine, School of Dentistry, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Engineering. A native of Detroit, he earned a BS from Morehouse College and later became the first student to complete a dual DDS/PhD degree in Oral Health Sciences at the U of Michigan. He is currently the Director of the U of M School of Dentistry dental implant program, and also has a federally-funded, NIH-sponsored research program focused on the development of regenerative medicine and stem cell therapies. Through his clinical work and research activities, he has earned numerous awards. He maintains an interdisciplinary specialty group practice in Detroit.

Casey Hiers speaks at the national, state, and local levels. He's taught dentists how to lower overhead, increase earnings, and save more for retirement without producing more or changing lifestyle in 3 years on average. In this course, he discusses the biggest challenges in dentistry that prevent maximizing cash flow, and ways to improve them. He uses real life success stories to illustrate how to overcome poor insurance reimbursements, stop tax surprises, and discover additional strategies to become financially stronger.
